Meghan Markle put a wonderful spin of California in a Classic look when she wears polka dots to cheer Prince Harry at his polo match in Santa Barbara, CA, on May 22. She paired a classic black and white polka dot shirt with long sleeves and a front tie with a white high back. Bermuda shorts hit right on the knee. Both her thong and black leather belt are from New York-based fashion label Khaite, which she recently introduced as a off-the-shoulder swimsuit at Invictus Games.
Upon seeing Markle’s outfit, royal family followers quickly compared it to some of Princess Diana’s polka dot outfits. The Markle combo looks like a modern-day iteration of the outfit Diana wore to the Cirque du Soleil gig with Harry and William in 1990, and it’s a bit like a white dress with black spots which the late royal wore to one of Prince Charles’ polos to a match in 1987. Although the nod may have been unintentional, the resemblance is hard to ignore, considered many times. Markle paid tribute to Diana in the past.
For the rest of Markle’s polo-match style, she opts for classic pieces of jewelry, including an “A” pendant gold necklace (“A” for son Archie), one Cartier watch, a Cartier bracelet, several thin rings and square diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. The Duchess teamed the outfit with a black sun hat, black Aquazzura heels, Valentino sunglasses and bright berry lipstick.
