Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Stroll hand in hand as they arrive at the UN General Assembly on Monday (July 18). Harry, 37, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker as part of the Nelson Mandela day. The British royal looked dapper in a slim suit and tie, and Meghan, 40, looked professional in a fitted black dress. Together the two strode into the UN building while holding hands before heading to the general assembly to watch Harry’s speech.

The United Nations Mission to South Africa said that Harry’s speech will “circle the memories and legacy of Mandela and what has been learned from his struggle and life that can help face the new challenges in today’s world,” per Guardians. July 18 marks Nelson Mandela’s birthday, and the United Nations General Assembly has established it as a time to “honor him not only by celebrating his life and contributions but also by traditional way of engaging in community service,” per Guardians. Other participants include the chairman of the board, Abdulla Shahid; UN Deputy Secretary General; Mayor of New York, Eric Adams; and the foreign minister of Guinea, Morissanda Kouate.

Harry and Meghan first visited South Africa, Mandela’s hometown, in 2019. In 2018, they met Mandela’s granddaughter Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela, as it celebrates its 100th birthday at a new exhibition in London’s Southbank Centre, every Our weekly. During the exhibit, the pair learned about the former South African president – who died aged 95 in December 2013 – and his efforts against the country’s apartheid system.

The couple’s visit to the UN came as a British royal expert suggested that Prince William and Kate Middleton may not be able to meet Harry and Meghan when they visit the United States for the 2022 Earshot Prize ceremony. The finalists will be announced in the fall, and a ceremony will be held shortly thereafter. Kate, 40, and William, 40, are “planning a packed schedule with no private time for visits”, according to the royal expert Neil Sean, who theorized that William wasn’t making time out of his schedule for Harry because he was having a hard time continuing “all those the allegation that Harry made about him and his family. “
