DES MOINES, Iowa — Another Mega Millions lottery, another night without a big winner.
No one hit all six numbers and won an estimated $940 million jackpot, pushing the estimated lottery prize to $1.1 billion ahead of the next drawing Tuesday night.
This is the third largest award in US history.
The numbers drawn at the end of Friday were: 3, 20, 46, 59, 63 and the golden Mega Ball 13.
There have been 24 draws without a jackpot winner, lasting more than two months. The no-win streak is largely due to the game’s lingering odds of 1 in 302.6 million.
A new estimated $1.1 billion prize is available to the winner who chooses an annuity that is paid annually for 29 years. The grand prize winners usually have the cash option, which for Tuesday night’s drawing will be estimated at $568.7 million.
“Mega Millions just hit the $1 billion mark again,” said Pat McDonald, Ohio Lottery director and principal director of the Mega Millions Consortium. New Year”. early Saturday. “As the jackpot increases, we encourage our players to keep their entertainment budget within their entertainment budget and enjoy this jackpot with us.”
The only Mega Millions jackpot bigger than Tuesday’s estimated $1.1 billion chance was the $1.53 billion prize in South Carolina in 2018 and the $1.33 billion winning ticket in Illinois in July. , Mega Millions said in the statement.
Elijah Kouza, assistant manager of the Buscemi convenience store in Livonia, Michigan, said the Mega Millions jackpot drew a lot of customers ahead of Friday night’s draw. The $940 million prize is prominently advertised at the store, and Kouza is expected to sell far more Mega Millions tickets than the 20 to 25 typically sold on Friday.
“To me, that’s pretty funny, because if it’s like $100 million, people will say, ‘No.’ They’ll make it through,” he said.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as in Washington, DC and the US Virgin Islands.
