Medina Spirit Derby DQ Hearing Officer Reusing Himself

Clay Patrick, designated hearing officer for Bob Baffert-Medina Spirit Derby Disqualification Casereused itself three weeks after the appeal was heard, according to Paulick’s Report.
Amr Zedan attorney Clark Brewster accidentally purchased a horse at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale co-owned by Patrick, who runs the family-owned Ramspring ranch.
Patrick is expected to make a recommendation on the appeal to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission within 60 to 90 days.
“After I bought the foal, I noticed how young the mare was and found out who owned it,” says Brewster. Paulick’s Report. “When I saw she had been purchased by Ramspring Farms and Milam Farms, I asked Mark Taylor who it was.”
Brewster added that a new hearing officer will be appointed and conduct another hearing or may use transcripts from the first appeal.
