Medaglia d’Oro 1st half for Clairiere to win Silverbulletday

La Crete (Medaglia d’Oro–Cavorting, by Bernardini), half-sister to one of last year’s 3-year-old child stars in Clairiere (Curlin). Bumping with Sweet as Pie (Tapit) at the break, La Crete led with Fannie and Freddie (Malibu Moon) following in second place. La Crete remained ahead through: 24.50 and :48.79 fractions, but drifted out of the way when Fannie and Freddie engaged her outside. Then passing through La Crete and La Crete briefly put forward a convincing theory of a beaten horse, but the bay will not be rejected and fight back with guts. She beat Fannie and Freddie by a fair distance, galloping with her ears raised. Silverbulletday marks the second race of 2022 points on Oaks Road and has a point value of 10-4-2-1.

“She is a special horse,” said winning jockey Joel Rosario, who is winning his third race on the tandem card with coach Steve Asmussen.

La Crete entered Silverbulletday with just one start under the belt, an easy score in the Churchill Downs maiden special of 1 1/16 miles on Nov. 20. She also took the lead on the day. that day, opened up five long stretches in the stretch before being slowed down in the final half.

Cavorting, the dam of both Clairiere and La Crete, is a seven-time winner of the black category, including in GI Test S. 2015, GI Ogden Phipps S. 2016 and GI Personal Ensign S. She raced for Stonestreet, who bought her for $360,000 weaning at KEENOV in 2012. Clairiere, winners of which included last year’s GI Cotillion S., was her first pony, with her second La Crete . Both are hybrids of Stonestreet. Cavorting was barren last year, but has a 2-year-old pony named Judge Miller, Clairiere’s biological brother, whom Stonestreet sold last year for $550,000 at KEESEP to Muir Hut Stables. Cavorting was bred to Into Mischief this spring.
