Meagan Good Shares What She Learned After Her Divorce
On Tuesday, July 9, Good appeared as a guest on ‘TODAY‘ to talk about her role in Tyler Perry’s latest film, ‘Divorce In The Black.’ In the film, Good plays a woman “devastated when her husband leaves their marriage,” according to Movie.
EQUAL Shade room As previously reported, Good’s ex-husband, DeVon Franklin, filed for divorce in December 2021 after nine years of marriage. While speaking with the ‘TODAY’ host, Good explained how her latest film helped her heal.
“I was excited to dive into this role because of her journey,” Good explains. “And her journey is one of — once she accepts what’s happening, and she realizes there’s nothing she can do about it, then she has to be excited about the second act of her life. And I understand that feeling very, very deeply, so I wanted to be able to express that because I want women and men to feel like, ‘Yeah, I can do this’ — it feels like something is ending, but something beautiful is beginning.”
Good went on to share that she and Franklin remain friends and that she feels like a “better person” after the experience.

As the conversation continued, the hosts brought up Good’s romance with Majors and tried to ask how it began. In turn, Good explained that she would not talk about how it began. However, she believes their relationship is filled with love, respect, care, and thoughtfulness.
One of the hosts then asked Good if her friends advised her to wait until after pursuing a relationship with Majors due to his recent domestic violence trial, which began in 2023 and ended earlier this year.
“Yeah, yeah, man,” Good replied before laughing. “But at the end of the day, one thing I know is that I can always look at myself in the mirror when I believe in my spirit… and when I move to the beat of my own drum. I can always look and say, ‘Okay, I’m proud of that,’ no matter what happens, I have peace in my heart, and I have harmony in my heart…”
Good explained that she takes everyone’s opinions into consideration. But, “ultimately,” she is the one who has to live her life and “take responsibility” for the “choices” she makes.
“And I also want to live the life I want,” Good concluded.
The couple recently attended the premiere of ‘Divorce In The Black’
Good’s comments on ‘TODAY’ came a day after she and Majors attended the ‘Divorce In The Black’ premiere at the Regal Times Square Theater in New York City. Good posing with her co-stars on the carpet while also exchanging a few gestures with her lover.
The couple even shared a kiss on the red carpet.
On Tuesday, July 9, footage emerged of Majors hitting his 1.2 while attending the event. A clip, captured by Instagram user @quesianna shows the actor two-stepping to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’.
