McDonald’s Brings Pokémon Back to Happy Meals until mid-September 2022 | FN Dish – Behind the scenes, Food Trends and Best Recipes: Food Network
McDonald’s and Pokémon have introduced a new target for those who feel like they have to catch them all. The two brands have teamed up to introduce Happy Meals with brand new TCG: Match Battle game items.
The new one Happy meal match the boxes, available in the US, UK, and Canada through mid-September 2022, will give Pokémon fans “one more way to experience the Pokémon Trading Card Game with Battle,” according to a Pokémon Product Announcement.
Each box will contain all the elements needed to enter the Battle with friends and family. That includes a four card booster pack – with a paper card in each pack – an instruction sheet, a coin, a spinner, and a card case.
“You can find Pokémon friends like Pikachu, Rowlet, Gossifleur and more, and send them into a coin flip, spin and numbers fun match,” the entertainment franchise explains. “The last trainer with a Pokémon in the match can claim victory.”
New Pokémon/McDonald’s Happy Meal Collaboration Follows successful escape of the brand’s 2021 Happy Meals, sparked a rush by collectors and miniaturists when they were released on the 25th anniversary of Pokémon, resulting in shortages. Around that time, McDonald’s had to limit the number of Happy Meals it would sell per customer to make it available to kids and families who were originally intended to be special edition meals.
Like its predecessor, the new Pokémon Happy Meals comes in an adorable yellow Pikachu box, complete with pointed cardboard ears. Are they insanely popular? Of course, time will tell, but early signs show a lot of excitement from fans.
In response a post on Twitter announced that the cute Pikachu Happy Meal boxes are “back” – the caption is simply “pika pika!” – the commenters expressed excitement.
“WHEN THIS IS RELATED TO OMGGGG,” one person wrote.
“OMG needs this,” said another.
“GO GOOOOOOO,” cheered the third.
In other words, the Pokémon fans who responded to this Happy Meal news seemed genuinely happy.
