Mr Hancock has yet to declare how much he was paid to appear on the popular ITV programme, ended with him coming in Tuesday on Sunday, but reports suggest his fees are significantly higher.

His decision to come to Australia while parliament was sitting resulted in his suspension from the Conservative parliamentary party, putting his future as an MP in jeopardy.

Many Conservative colleagues were embarrassed and outraged by Mr Hancock’s decision to leave his constituents behind and go into the infamous woods more than 10,000 miles away.

COVID campaigners also made their point as they hung a banner over the camp asking him to leave.

West Suffolk MP’s appearance on Celebrity SAS is scheduled to air in 2023.

Despite two television appearances, His spokesman has insisted Mr Hancock “has no intention of relinquishing politics”. to pursue a career in showbiz.

Mr Hancock is expected to face the music when he returns to parliament for a second reading of the Dyslexia Bill on Friday.

Business Secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News that Matt Hancock should return to parliament ‘doing his job for his voters’.

Mr Hancock, who was diagnosed with dyslexia in college, has vowed to use the “incredible background” provided by I’m a Celebrity to raise awareness about dyslexia.

There is speculation about whether he will be restored to the Conservative Party’s whip and seek re-election in the next election.

He appears to be facing a tight time frame, as Tory MPs have been given until December 5 – next Monday – to declare their intention to run for re-election in the vote. The next one, is expected to take place in 2024.

Mr Hancock’s career as a cabinet minister ended last summer when he resigned in disgrace after being caught by CCTV kissing an aide at his ministerial office, violating the social distancing rules he himself imposed to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
