Maruti Suzuki Concept eVX electric SUV launched at Auto Expo 2023, preparing to hit the Indian market in 2025


India’s flagship auto show Auto Expo 2023 kicked off on Wednesday with the global launch of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s ‘eVX’ electric SUV, which is expected to hit the market in 2025. The Indian branch of the company Maruti Suzuki India is one of the major manufacturers participating in the show that has returned after three years.

Concept eVX is a mid-size electric SUV concept designed and developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Japan. It will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of up to 550 km on a single charge.

“We plan to bring it to market in 2025. At Suzuki CorporationTackling global warming is a top priority,” said SMC Representative and President Toshihiro Suzuki at the fair during the product launch.

Furthermore, he said, “we are driving a range of global measures to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our business. One key measure is to reduce the CO2 we emit when we use it. In India, as announced last March, we will invest Rs 10,000 crore in the production of BEVs (Battery Powered Vehicles) and their batteries.” Maruti Suzuki also displayed a variety of eco-friendly products such as the WagonR Flex Fuel prototype, the Brezza S-CNG and the Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid.

“With a particular emphasis on Aatmanirbhar Bharat, we have committed to bringing in new products, technologies, investments and setting up new facilities in India.

“We believe in fully exploring technologies such as hybrid, CNG, bio-CNG, ethanol and electric to support the Government of India’s dual goal of reducing oil import bills and Carbon Net Zero by 2020. 2070,” said Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and Managing Director Hisashi Takeuchi.

He also says that the approach to electric vehicles is comprehensive given the scale and localization.

Takeuchi said Concept eVX is Suzuki’s first global strategic electric vehicle and will launch in India.

He added: “It delivers exciting urban SUV styling through a sharp design language, and as a battery-powered vehicle, it intentionally reinforces our commitment to eco-friendliness. environment and sustainability”.

In total, Maruti Suzuki displayed 16 models at the fair, including the Grand Vitara, XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, WagonR Flex Fuel, Baleno and Swift, among others.

The biennial auto show originally scheduled to be held in 2022 has been postponed to this year due to COVID-19. Some big manufacturers like Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, volkswagenand NISSAN along with luxury car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW carand audio do not join this version.

In addition, the visibility of major two-wheeler manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp, Automobile Bajajand TVS Motor Company will be restricted from displaying prototype flexible fuel vehicles at the Ethanol booth.

Like Maruti Suzuki, hyundai, Tata engine, Kia IndiaToyota Kirloskar, and engine MG India will lead traditional carmakers at the Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh) show, which will see five global launches, 75 product launches and announcements.

This edition of the show begins with press days January 11-12 followed by public days January 13-18. There is a much larger participation of start-up players, especially in the electric vehicle segment in this version.
