Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: price, safety, features, powertrain and rival details



In addition to the safer equipment, Maruti also offers the Ciaz two-tone paint options.

Maruti Suzuki updated its average size Ciaz with more safety features and additional paint color options. The Ciaz now comes with ESP and Hill Keep Assist as standard on all variants. Previously, these features were only available on the automatic transmission variants of the mid-size sedan.

In addition to safety equipment, Maruti Suzuki also offers two-tone color options on the most advanced Alpha variant of this model. These updates are an attempt by Maruti Suzuki to keep the nearly nine-year-old Ciaz fresh in the face of newer competition in the midsize sedan segment.

Updated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: added safety features, color options

Ciaz now has Hill Hold Assist and ESP on all its variants. The sedan had these safety features available before, however, they were limited to automatic transmission variants of the car. Now, even manual variations get it. Ciaz continues to be equipped with ABS, ISOFIX child seat hooks and dual front airbags. Be aware that most of its rivals offer up to six airbags, at least on their higher variants.

Maruti Suzuki also offers the Ciaz three two-tone paint options – Luxurious Metallic Red, Luxurious Metallic Gray and Metallic Brown – all of which come with a black hood. The two-tone option is only available on the top-end Alpha variant and is offered at a premium of Rs 16,000 over the standard paint color. The two-tone Alpha version costs Rs 11.15 lakh and the automatic variant costs Rs 12.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz continues with the old powertrain

Mechanically, no changes have been made to the Ciaz, and that means it continues to be powered by the 105-horsepower, 1.5-liter K15C petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual or manual transmission. 4-speed torque converter automatic. The engine comes with mild hybrid technology and the Maruti has a fuel efficiency of 20.65kpl for the manual and 20.04kpl for the automatic variant.
