Marquand sustains tremors in Randwick Fall
Jockey Tom Marquand, who is riding in Australia, fell from his mount due to interference in the A$2 million Millennium Inglis and suffered a concussion at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Marquand riding coach Annabel Neasham Dorothy Gail (Australia) (Capitalist {Aus}), and overturned by a mid-race move from Josh Parr-ridden Hell (Australia) (Hell {Aus}). Parr has been suspended from 20 meetings for the careless riding incident.
“That was horrible,” said Neasham, who won the race with meadowrning To Fly (Australia) (justification), speak SKY Purebred Center. “He [Marquand] it’s okay, he’s sitting up, he’s talking, he’s holding his shoulder but he’s okay. He’s awake, so he looks fine.
Racing NSW later tweeted, “Tom’s head CT scan is clear, however he has a concussion and will stay in hospital overnight. So far, the scans on his shoulder have been clear.”
Marquand, who has successfully ridden in Australia several times, will be cycling in Qatar next weekend. He won the first race of the day, Coolmore Pierro Plate, more than 1100 meters aboard the Café Millenium (Aus) (Not A Single Doubt {Aus}).
