Mario Reacts to Usher’s Tribute to BET in 2024
As The Shade Room previously reported, Usher received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards on June 30 for his enduring musical legacy.
Earlier this week, TMZ met Mario in Beverly Hills, California and asked him what he thought about the lineup and performances at the BET Awards honoring the R&B legend.
“I think it’s great! I think the whole point was to have all the women do it. It’s a concept, and I think they killed it. All the girls killed it. It was fire. If it was the guys, it would be good. But the women — they killed it. All the girls killed it,” Mario said.
Even though the performers were predominantly women, Mario said he would happily step in to honor Usher if BET asked him to do so.
“Sure, I’ll kill it. It’ll be fire, fa’sho. I see people tagging me and stuff, Mario continued.”

According to The Shade Room, Usher received the prestigious BET Lifetime Achievement Award and saw his peers honor his three-decade legacy. The Usher tribute featured some of the biggest names in R&B and pop music.
The special program starts with Donald Gloveralso called Childish Gambinoperformed an a cappella version of Usher’s 2001 hit ‘U Don’t Have To Call.’ Keke Palmer Join in as the music starts, moving to ‘U Make Me Wanna.’
Coco Jones serenaded the audience with Usher’s ‘There Goes My Baby’ and even tried to surprise him by luring him out of his seat. Chloe Bailey wowed the crowd with ‘Good Kisser’, while Marsha Ambrosius delivered an emotional version of ‘Superstar. Tinashe also appeared and achieved great success with the song ‘Nice & Slow’.
Summer Walker also made a surprise appearance to perform their 2023 collaboration, ‘Good, Good’ featuring 21 barbariansHowever, the highlight of the honor is when Teyana Taylor pop out with Victoria Monét for ‘Bad Girl.’
