‘Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’ gets 48 courses from older games as paid DLC
There’s a lot of mixed news for Mario Kart fans in the latest Nintendo Direct. Although there is no word on the next game in the series, Nintendo revealed that it is not completed with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Just yet.
The company is remaking courses from older games in the series and bringing them to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as paid DLC. The first batch of courses will arrive on March 18. Next month you’ll be able to race around the Coconut Mall again from Mario Kart WiiChoco Mountain from Mario Kart 64 and Tokyo Blue from Visiting Mario Kart and five other versions of the classic courses.
Nintendo will be adding eight courses at once across six batches. All 48 courses will be available by the end of 2023. Pre-orders for the $25 Booster Course Pass will open today. However, if you’re a subscriber to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, you’ll get access to the remastered courses at no extra cost.
The company previously offered subscribers a paid Animal Crossing: New Horizons expansion as part of the plan. Expansion Pack (also includes a library Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games) costs $50 per year for an individual plan and $80 annually for a family member. You need to have or subscribe to Switch Online to play with friends online.
