Epic Games has announced the next person to join its Fortnite Icon Series, which already includes community creators like Ninja and Loserfruit, and that’s Maria “Chica” Lopez.
Revealed today, Lopez will be launching the game this Saturday, May 7, at 8 p.m. ET, and like previous Icon Series participants, the creators will bring the New in-game items can be purchased in the Fortnite Item Shop into the battle royale. All of Lopez’s items will arrive in the Item Shop at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
“I am so proud of not only being a content creator but also of my identity as a Puerto Rican woman in the LGBTQIA+ community,” she wrote in a press release. “I want my Kit in Fortnite to be who I am. I’ve been able to build such a great community in the Fortnite family, and I can’t wait to share my Sets with everyone. I’m excited to be the first Latina to join the Icon Series. ”
As for what to expect from her Icon Series, Epic Games shared the following:
- Chica . icon set: Shaping some feathers with five different styles of Chica Outfit outside Star Back Bling and Aida’s Edge Pickaxe, all with their own Royale Streak Alternative Style. And when you’re not sure about your next step, give it a boost with Pollo Dance Emote.
- Tournaments: Play another chicken game in the Chica Cup on Thursday, May 5, for a chance to unlock some in-game items from the Chica set and a chance to earn Chica Was Here Spray.
- Fly high or fall fast in creativity: Are you a star player? Test your flying skills in an obstacle course on Fun Run Chica Creative Island, run by community member KyberCreative.
“To celebrate the arrival of Chica’s Icon Series, unlock Pollito Spray simply by watching your favorite Fortnite streamers,” Epic Games wrote in a press release. “All viewers who accumulate an hour of Fortnite on Twitch from May 6 at 10 a.m. ET to May 8 at 10 p.m. ET will unlock Spray. Make sure your Epic and Twitch accounts are linked to claim this Twitch claim. ”
