‘Many angry with me’: Twitter founder’s apology amid mass layoffs under Elon Musk

In another apologetic tweet, the company’s former CEO said he loves everyone who has worked on Twitter. “I don’t expect it to be mutual this time … or ever … and I understand,” he added.

Dorsey’s tweets come amid mass layoffs at Twitter worldwide follow Elon Musktake over the microblogging platform.
Hundreds of employees were awarded pink votes at Twitter on Friday as Musk, 51, began an overhaul of the social media platform he bought for $44 billion late last month.
To justify the move, Musk said he had no choice because Twitter was losing more than $4 million a day.
The company posted a net loss of $270 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2022 compared with a profit of $66 million a year earlier.
Twitter has also laid off the majority of its more than 200 employees in India. The layoffs were in the engineering, sales and marketing, and communications teams, the sources said.
Musk has blamed activists for the dramatic drop in the company’s revenue.
“Twitter has suffered a massive drop in revenue due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, although nothing has changed with content moderation and we’ve done everything we can to appease activists. .”, Musk tweeted on Friday.
About 7,500 Twitter employees have been expected to be laid off since Musk took the helm of the company. Following the completion of the Twitter acquisition, Musk ousted CEO Parag Agrawal, chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde, CFO Ned Segal and General Counsel Sean Edgett.
