We are well aware of wolves. However, most of us may not have heard of the ‘maned wolf’. The video of such a creature, neither a fox nor a wolf, went viral and shocked netizens.
In a video shared by internet user Reg Saddler on Twitter, the animal is seen crossing the street calmly. The strange thing is that at first the animal appears to be a wolf and then if you look closely, it appears to be a fox. However, it is not of any kind. Amused by the same, the user captioned the post “Does anyone know what the hell is this?!”

The post has received two million views since it was shared. Many Twitter users were stunned to witness such an animal. Some claimed it was a hyena while others called the video a fake.
One user said: ‘It looks so fake, the dark hair on the neck keeps appearing and disappearing.
Someone guessed and said, “It looks like a jackal crossed with another canine mammal… maybe a hyena or a wolf.”

The video was re-shared by a Fascinating Twitter page where they claimed the animal was a ‘maned wolf’. According to Britannica, the species is a rare large-eared member of the canine family found in the remote plains of central South America.
The mane wolf is characterized by an erect mane, long reddish-brown fur, extremely long black legs, and a fox-like head. The mane wolf is a nocturnal, solitary species that preys on small animals, insects, and plants. It usually stays away from people.
