Man shot dead after police respond to ‘person threatening people’ in Carlisle | Breaking News News



A man died from a gunshot wound when a police gun was discharged after officers were dispatched to an address in Carlisle.

According to the Cumbria Constabulary, armed officers were called to Borland Avenue at 3:37 p.m. Monday after reports of someone threatening people.

They found a man in possession of a knife.

“Shortly after, a police gun was released. The man, about 40 years old, was wounded by gunshots and is presumed dead at the scene,” the force said.

“No other members of the public were injured in this incident, which at this stage is believed to be an isolated incident.”

A police barricade was placed at the address while officers conducted an investigation.

The force notified the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) of the incident.
