A drunk man opened fire on three members of a family when they protested his habit of urinating on their doorstep and reported the incident to the police, killing one of them – a teenage boy – in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, a senior. officially said on Wednesday.
The incident happened on Tuesday in Kot village of Nayagaon police station and the defendant, identified as Pintu Sharma, was arrested along with an associate, he said.
Pintu Sharma is accused of regularly urinating in front of a Vikas Singh’s house in Kot village and doing the same in the afternoon, said Police Superintendent (SP) Shailendra Singh Chauhan of Bhind district.
Singh’s family members again protested his rude behavior and later reported the matter to the police, much to Pintu Sharma’s anger.
Mr Chauhan said Pintu Sharma, drunk, armed with a gun and accompanied by an associate, went to the complainant’s home in the evening and opened fire on three members of his family, leaving all three critically injured. .
The Chief of Police said the injured were first transported to Bhind district hospital and then taken to hospital in Gwalior, where one of them, a 12-year-old boy, died from gunshot wounds. .
SP said Pintu Sharma and his associates were arrested Wednesday.
Infuriated by the incident, the victim’s relatives organized a road blockade near Bhind district hospital to demand action against Nayagaon police station in charge for not addressing their frequent complaints against Pintu Sharma.
The road blockade was lifted after the intervention of local MLA Sanjeev Singh Sanju.
Mr Chauhan said police were investigating further into the shooting.
