He was found by the search and rescue team after a month

In an extraordinary survival story, a Bolivian man claimed he survived by eating insects and worms, after being lost alone in the Amazon jungle for more than a month. According to one BBC Reportedly, Jhonatan Acosta, 30, got lost from friends on a hunting trip in northern Bolivia on January 25. Almost a month later, he was found by search and rescue teams.

After being rescued, Mr. Acosta recounted how he survived in the forest and the hardships he had to go through. He says he survives by eating worms, insects and wild fruits like papaya.

”I asked God for rain. If it hadn’t rained, I wouldn’t have survived,” he said. Mr. Acosta added that he collected rainwater in his rubber boots to keep himself hydrated. However, he was forced to drink his own urine as the sky dried up.

He also talked about how he met all kinds of wild animals and different creatures in the forest including jaguars.

After 31 days, he miraculously spotted a search party about 300 meters away and limped towards them, calling for help. A group of four men eventually found him.

Mr. Acosta lost 17 kg, dislocated his ankle and became dehydrated after 31 days in the woods. After the ordeal, he was taken to a medical center, where he shaved off his beard and hair.

He has now vowed to give up hunting and dedicate his life to making music for God.

“He will play music that praises God. He promised God that, and I think he will keep his promise,” said Horacio Acosta, the survivor’s younger brother.

In a similar incident, a man from the Caribbean island of Dominica. claims he survived 24 days lost at sea in a sailing boat due to eating ketchup before being rescued in Colombian waters.

“I have no food. Just a bottle of ketchup on the boat, garlic powder and Maggi. So I mixed it with some water to be able to survive 24 days at sea,” said Elvis Francois, 47, said. English in a video released by the Colombian Navy.
