Man in court charged with murder and attempted murder of his wife after firearms incident on Isle of Skye | UK News

A 39-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder as well as conspiracy to kill his wife and two others following a series of shootings in northwest Scotland.

Finlay MacDonald, from Skye, appeared at Inverness Sheriff’s Court on Friday and made no plea.

MacDonald, 39, has committed to further examination and remand.

John MacKinnon, 47, died after shooting on the Isle of Skye on Wednesday morning.

Gunshots were also heard on land at Dornie, Wester Ross.

Three others were taken to hospital following the incident, including a man, 63, who was in “critical” condition on Thursday, and a 32-year-old woman, locally named Rowena MacDonald, who was injured. The injury was described as “severe.”

A 63-year-old woman was taken to Broadford Hospital, Skye, and released after treatment.
