A man has been pronounced dead after jumping out of a stolen California Highway Patrol (CHP) patrol vehicle at high speed. chase in northern Los Angeles County.

CBSLos Angeles reported that the incident occurred Tuesday after authorities received a call regarding a reckless driver near Santa Clarita, Calif. A short time later, the driver eventually crashed his Toyota Corolla—although he somehow managed to get hold of the responding officer’s CHP cruiser.
The intense chase then continued as the driver headed towards Lancaster. Multiple spikes were deployed to attempt to disable the vehicle, which allegedly exceeded speeds above 100 mph.
In addition, officers were particularly concerned about guns stored in vehicles, even though they were locked and inaccessible.
The driver eventually brought the matter to an unexpected end after he opened the door and jumped out of the car in the middle of the chase.

As a result, CHP staff Alec Pereyda noted that the suspect was “seriously injured.”
“While still pursuing and at high speed, for unknown reasons, the driver of the patrol vehicle jumped from the vehicle and was seriously injured.”
He passed away shortly after jumping out of the moving vehicle
After the suspect jumped out of the vehicle, police pulled him off the roadway and began providing first aid. As for the stolen car, it came to a halt after hitting a telephone pole and turning into a lawn.
Despite their efforts, authorities noted that the driver died of his injuries at a nearby hospital. He has yet to be identified publicly.
We should also add that Officer Pereyda has said, while he does not know “what happened in this situation,” it is “standard procedure” for officers to lock their vehicles when they running.
