Via Craig Daly: Deontay Wilder coach Malik Scott is picking Oleksandr Usyk to beat Anthony Joshua tonight by knockout between rounds 9 and 11 in their rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Malik believes the aggressive style Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) has been taught by his new coach Robert Garcia will be “against him” tonight because Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) always played well against bigger fighters who put pressure on him.
Indeed, Joshua’s belligerence could take him down in skirmishes, as Usyk will have more chances to land his stinging hits with AJ going forward all night long. .
“I chose Usyk for the first time, and I choose him again in a much more epic fight coming from Joshua, but I think it might work for Joshua, so I’ll Usyk by knockout between nine and eleven innings,‘ Malik Scott said to Fighthype.
“I say this out of respect [Robert] They’re Garcia, but they’re forward-thinking and front-footed. So when you put one and one together, Joshua is saying that my thought is ‘Kill, kill, kill,’ and he hired Garcia.
“They are moving straight ahead. They will be very heavy, and I just believe that for someone like Usyk, who specializes in fighting big guys is very, very good, I think it will fight them [Team Joshua]. Like I said, I’ll go with Usyk right away.
“My rounds may be between nine and eleven, eight and eleven, but I am playing very competitively [fight]. Joshua is going to try and become more imposing, but I think it’s going to be against him. I think Usyk will make him approach, and Usyk will teach a lotso it will be good.
“All is well for the division. My game plan is the same for everyone. Create a comfortable environment. I think whoever Deontay hits is going wild,” Malik said when asked if Deontay Wilder could beat Usyk.
“He will have to continue it in a much quicker way, Usyk. I think Usyk is the best technical guy I’ve ever boxed,” Scott said.
