Mahindra XUV700 or MG Hector: Which SUV should I buy? – Ask Autocar anything

Both the Hector and XUV700 are available with an automatic petrol version, offering driving convenience and smooth handling.

My husband and I are considering buying a new petrol automatic car mainly for city driving and our budget is Rs 20 lakh-22 lakh. I want a nice interior, while my husband wants a powerful car. We don’t have kids, so backseat comfort doesn’t matter. Between the MG Hector and the Mahindra XUV700, which would you recommend?

Autocar India says: The XUV700 is the right choice as it has a powerful 200 hp petrol engine paired with a smooth automatic transmission that makes city driving a breeze and your husband will have all the power he needs. The strengths of the MG Hector are the soft roads and comfortable rear seats, which is not a priority for you. The Hector has a smooth 1.5-litre petrol engine, but it’s not as powerful as the XUV700.
