The automaker said in a statement that this is the introductory price for the first 5,000 orders of the electric SUV. Mahindra also announced that it aims to deliver 20,000 units of the XUV400 within a year of its launch.
Pre-orders of the SUV will start on January 26 and it will be made available across India in phases. The car brand says that in the first phase, the XUV400 will be offered in 34 cities across India. The automaker says deliveries will begin in March 2023 for the XUV400 EL and during the Diwali holiday season for the XUV400 EC. The electric SUV comes standard with a three-year or unlimited-kilometer warranty and will additionally come with an 8-year or 160,000-km warranty (whichever comes first) for the battery and engine.
The Mahindra XUV400 challenges rivals like the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently the best-selling electric vehicle in India. In addition, Mahindra XUV400 will also compete with rivals such as Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV. The compact electric SUV is available in 5 different color options – Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Gray, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue, with a two-tone option of Bronze Satin.
The Mahindra XUV400 EC is the lower variant and it draws its power from a 34.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a range of 375 km on a single charge. It comes with 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW charger options. On the other hand, the higher variant XUV400 EL is equipped with a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, which ensures a range of 456 km on a single charge. This variant comes with a 7.2 kW charger. Mahindra also claims that the XUV400 has the fastest acceleration in the non-luxury segment. It is claimed to sprint from 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds at a top speed of 150 kmph.
