Mahindra Thar 4X2 car price, design, feature details
The Thar 1.5 diesel 4X2 has been upgraded for the upcoming RDE standards, thus resulting in a price increase.
recently introduced Mahindra The Thar 1.5 diesel 4X2 received its first price hike. While there has been no official announcement so far, dealer sources have confirmed this development. The manufacturer just increased the price of Thar diesel 4X2 at the moment. However, prices for the 1.5-litre Thar AX(O) diesel and 2.0-litre LX automatic variants remain unchanged to date.

According to dealers, updating the engine to meet the RDE norm was responsible for the price increase. Here is a detailed look at the price of the Thar 2WD along with the 4WD variants.

As can be seen in the table above, the price difference of Rs 2.33 lakh continues between the 4X2 and 4X4 versions of the 2.0-litre AT LX petrol variant. However, with the price increase of Rs 50,000, the price difference between the 4X2 and 4X4 versions of the diesel-MT LX variants is Rs 3.38 lakh.
Mahindra Thar 2WD: powertrain details
The 2WD Xe equipped with the same 1.5 liter diesel engine on duty on the XUV300. This unit makes 117hp and 300Nm of torque while being paired only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The second powertrain offered on the Thar 2WD is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine as on the Thar 4WD. This mill produces 152 hp and 320 Nm of torque while being offered a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Mahindra Thar 2WD: Rivals
Currently, the Thar 2WD has no direct competitor in the market, but the more expensive Thar 4WD will compete with the likes of the Thar 2WD. Gurkhas Force and Maruti Jimny coming soonwill go on sale in mid-2023.
