Mahindra opens new EV factory in Pune, will invest Rs 10,000
Mahindra & Mahindra announced that the automaker will open a new production facility for electric vehicles in Pune, Maharashtra. Automakers will invest $10,000 crore for the new EV facility and the investment has been approved under the Maharashtra Government’s electric vehicle industry promotion plan.
Speaking about the announcement, Rajesh Jejurikar, Managing Director, Automotive & Agriculture, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We are delighted with this approval from the Government. of Maharashtra for establishing our EV Factory in Pune and investing in what has been our “hometown” for over 70 years. We are very grateful to the Government. of Maharashtra for their continued support. The Government’s focus on progressive and ‘business facilitation’ policies, along with Mahindra’s investment, will act as a catalyst for Maharashtra to become India’s electric vehicle hub, earning attract more Indian and foreign direct investment.”

The carmaker unveiled the new ‘BE’ branding for electric vehicles on 15 August this year in Oxfordshire, UK. The new BE cars mark a new chapter in Mahindra’s electric mobility plans and will be based on the newly developed INGLO EV platform. The new EV architecture will create a future range of electric SUVs under the BE brand, while also bringing new electric SUVs under the ‘XUV’ brand.
