Maharashtra passes resolution to include 865 Karnataka villages | India News
NAGPUR: Days After Karnataka legislature delete one Resolution above interstate border Disputing that they will not give an inch of land to Maharashtra, both houses of the Maharashtra legislature on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to legally pursue the inclusion of 865 Marathi-speaking villages and their citizens. They entered the state and made every effort to dispute the ongoing rights case in the Supreme Court. Among the villages included in Maharashtra were Belagavi (formerly Belgaum), Karwar, Bidar, Balki and Nipani.
The resolution presented by CM Eknath Shinde during the meeting talks about standing behind the Marathi speakers in 865 villages. CM has informed the House of Representatives that the government has invited famous lawyers Harish Salve to represent Maharashtra in SC.
The resolution also requires Karnataka the government complies with the terms and conditions finalized in the meeting of CM Basavaraj Bommai with Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis recently with union interior minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. It calls on the Karnataka government to ensure the safety of Marathi speakers in these villages.
At Maharashtra council, speaker Rahul Narvekar gave the resolution to vote after CM read it. Members from the treasury and opposition benches approved it by a voice vote.
In the council, Shinde tabulates the resolution, and it is put to a vote by vice-president Neelam Gorhe and adopted by voice vote. Later, Fadnavis said the government was ready to discuss with the opposition about resolving the border dispute.

CM said youth from border areas will be recruited into government jobs in Maharashtra if they are eligible.
