Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde expands two-member cabinet; 18 ministers sworn in | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde on Tuesday expanded its cabinet by nominating 18 new ministers.
Governor BS Koshyari performed the swearing-in ceremony for the ministers at Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai.
President of the State of BJP Chandrakant Patil was also sworn in as minister.
The power of the Maharashtra set has now increased to 20, less than half of the maximum allowed strength of 43.
On June 30, Shinde was sworn in as minister and Devendra Fadnavis sworn in as deputy CM.
Those sworn in as ministers on Tuesday included nine members of the Shinde and BJP groups.
The new BJP ministers are Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Vijaykumar Gavit, Girish Mahajan, Suresh Khade, Ravindra Chavan, Atul Save and Mangalprabhat Lodha.
From the Shinde group, Gulabrao Patil, Dada Bhuse, Sanjay Rathod, Sandipan Bhumre, Uday Samant, Tanaji Sawant, Abdul Sattar, Deepak Kesarkar and Shambhuraj Desai were sworn in as ministers.
