Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil says Eknath Shinde made CM with ‘heavy heart’ | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: A few weeks after BJP made the great decision to make Eknath Shinde a Maharashtra The deputy minister and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil on Saturday said the decision was made with a “heavy heart”.
Within hours, the video was removed from all of the BJP’s social media platforms and several leaders, including Fadnavis, appeared to explain. Even defending Patil, Fadnavis said Shinde was their leader and the decision to cast him as CM might surprise many, but it wasn’t made suddenly; it was thought out and implemented in a uniform way.
Speaking at the BJP’s first state executive meeting after the government change, Patil said there was a need for a leader who would stabilize the government and deliver the right message, and so with a ” heavy heart”, the central leaders of the BJP, especially Fadnavis, decided. to create Shinde CM, he said.
Uddhav’s fate is sealed on the day he stabbed us in the back: Fadnavis
Speaking ahead of the BJP state executive meeting, party chief Chandrakant Patil said although the decision to include Eknath Shinde as CM was made with a “heavy heart”, “we have overcome our sadness and form a government with enthusiasm”.
Reacting to the claims, Devendra Fadnavis said: “Patil’s claims have been misinterpreted. He was talking about the feelings of the party workers who expected me to be the CM and were shocked when Shinde’s name was called. But this does not mean that Shinde is not accepted by us or that some of us have a different opinion. All decisions were made in a unified manner. Their government, he said, will not only complete their term but also win with a larger majority in the next elections.
Ashish Shelar said Patil was just conveying the sentiments of the workers in the party and that was not his opinion.
Political analysts say Shinde’s elevation to CM has caused restlessness among the state’s BJP leaders and is being seen as a snub to Fadnavis. Perhaps aware of the restlessness, Fadnavis tried to quell any sense of grievance. “It is important to give Shinde an important role because he has been to so many MLAs, but it is more important to show that the BJP is not a power hungry party. We are not destabilizing governments to install our CM, but it is a battle of ideologies. Mr. Fadnavis said the change in government was necessary in the interest of the public and the welfare of the state.
He criticized Uddhav Thackeray for forming an “unnatural” alliance with Congress and the NCP. “We did not give them a word before the (2019) election. A plot has been hatched against us. Sena has decided to cooperate with NCP and end its alliance with us in 2019. I called Uddhavji, but my calls were not answered. Their fate was decided the very day they stabbed us in the back,” said Fadnavis.
He added the “real” Shiv Sena following Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology to be with them. Jammed with election noise ahead of polls by local agencies including BMC, Fadnavis asks all party staff to work on strengthening the organization
