Oliver Wilson hit two giant birdies on the backs of nine in Denmark to help the England international complete his shot past Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson and win his first since the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Oliver Wilson clinched his first DP World Tour title since 2014 with a stellar win in a hit at Made in HimmerLand in Denmark.
The former Ryder Cup player hit 67 with no magic at the Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort, hanging a 65-foot birdie on the penultimate hole to finish the week in 21st place and knock out Ewen Ferguson.
Wilson started with a partial lead but opened with a streak of seven consecutive pars, with the Briton after a two-put birdie in eighth by moving from long range at par- four days 13.
A 15-foot bird throw in 16th place and the monster bird on the next leg lifted Wilson to the top of the leaderboard, with a final two-shot enough to claim his first win since the Championship. Alfred Dunhill Links 2014.
“It’s really hitting me now,” Wilson said. “Give me a minute. I said I wouldn’t cry. Everything I’ve done up to this point to rebuild my game, I know I can do it. I’m so calm there, I’m fine. almost enjoyed the last hole.It was quite special.
“I’m so proud of myself and I have a great team around me. There have been some dark times and they’ve all stuck with me so this is for them too. I put in the effort. from everywhere I can to try and figure this game out and I don’t think I’m there yet, but I feel like there’s a lot more to come. “
Ferguson put in a 30-foot birdie putt in the third round and took advantage of the fifth round before taking the lead when a great eighth-round approach set up a 10-foot eagle.
The Scots ended the run by rolling in from 14 feet in the 14th minute and making a superb par-four comeback last time to go under-20s, when he almost missed his third win of the season.
Norway’s Kristian Krogh Johannessen sped past a spotless 65 to move into third place, with British trio Matthew Jordan, Ross McGowan, four-man Matthew Southgate speeding in the quarter-finals alongside Francesco Laporta.
62 rounds of the day lifted Daan Huizing to a share in eighth, which also featured overnight co-leader Justin Walters, who tricked three of his last seven holes, while Robert MacIntyre posted one under 70 in draw weekend – 12th.
The DP World Tour is heading to the UK next for the BMW PGA Championship, with extended coverage throughout the week being broadcast live on Sky Sports. The Highlights Group live broadcast begins Thursday at 8:30 a.m. on Sky Sports Golf.
