Data on the US housing and consumer markets, along with some notable earnings reports, will be the highlights of this week. Without any surprises, the federal financial regulators’ congressional hearings will be the main event on the banking front.

On Wednesday, Fed Vice Chairman Michael Barr and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Chairman Martin Gruenberg are scheduled to testify before the House Financial Services Committee. They will discuss the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank and efforts to maintain confidence in the US banking system.
