Kevin Preston, president and owner of Louisiana Downs Track Looking forward to welcoming Louisiana’s key riders, fans and legislators on August 6 for Louisiana Cup Day, the racing event of the annual Thoroughbred racing season.
Since the 2022 Louisiana live racing season began in January, Preston has worked tirelessly to bring the Bossier City track and casino back to the fore. The facility updates and the addition of the Sports Payroll Center were warmly received by fans and riders.
One of his other goals is to make sure that Louisiana lawmakers understand the economic impact of the Louisiana Downs. Preston has extended invitations to local and state legislators to come August 6 for the full-stakes program offering Louisiana Thoroughbreds.

Louisiana Cup Day Scholarship Drawings
The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will award two scholarships, each worth $1,000, during the event.
Drawings will take place after the fifth race. Races begin at 1:45 p.m. and students must be present to register between 12:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. at the designated registration counter. The requirements for the scholarship are as follows:
– Must be a college student enrolled full-time for Fall 2022
– Must have a good relationship with the college or university
– Must be present at the draw location to win
– Must have a college ID number or Social Security number
The scholarship will be deposited directly into the student’s account at the college or university. Students are required to know the name and address of the university they are attending.
