Louis Tomlinson no grudge against the ex One-way teammate Zayn Malik. The “Always You” singer, 30, provided a rare relationship update during an appearance on The Zach Sang Show on Wednesday, September 28.
When asked if he and the “Pillowtalk” crooner are friends, Louis replied, “You have to ask him.” More reflection, Louis told the host Zach Sang“I could be wrong, but I believe I did when you asked me a similar question [last time]… I believe I said I didn’t think I was mature enough to get over what let me down in that relationship. “
Showing some maturity, he seriously continued, “I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to getting over all of that.”
The duo rose to fame after Zayn .’s 2015 online silly trade departure from 1D. Among the insults – Zayn responded to a catty comment from Louis saying, “Remember when you had a life and stopped making b***** comments about me?”
Despite their history, Louis tells Zach that he always keeps Zayne in his mind. He even admitted that he “tried to contact” his ex Gigi Hadid.
“There have been so many times over the last few years that I think about him and hope he’s okay,” Louis revealed. He added, “But it’s hard” and “I definitely wish him well.”
Host Zach keeps asking Louis if he’s trying Send Message for Zayn when he “liked” a video of his old bandmate cover song 1D “Change of the Night” on his Instagram. The singer sent fans into a frenzy after he posted an acapella rendition of his 2014 single in August. The song seemed like the right choice, as it was Zayn’s last single with 1D. .
Louis joked that Zach actually did his “research” before chatting. He went on to praise the father of one who is an artist, calling Zayn “a singer of another caliber”.
Continuing to praise his former bandmate, Louis continued, “I don’t just like it because I like it. It’s a great feeling because he’s said what he says about the band before, and I understand some of what he’s saying. To me, in those videos, it shows him contemplating. It shows he’s thinking about those times. Of course, at the same time, showing off his incredible voice.”
“That’s why it makes me feel good,” he says, “Because it’s like, ‘Well, you’re probably thinking about the good times in the band. “
Louis went on to say how he thinks the pair will be able to mend the relationship “in time”, but says it will have to come naturally. “I think we just need to bump into each other because we both don’t have each other’s numbers. I suppose maybe social media could be the way,” he continued, adding that he knows Zayne “too well” to simply surf into his DMs.
