Free to play fantasy MMO RPG Lost beer keg shared a sneak peek at the new classes and raids coming to the game for the rest of the year. Following from September, introducing Lost Ark’s Iron Man is very personal in the form of advanced Machinist classes, two more classes are expected to appear between now and early 2023, bringing the list to 21. However, October is about raids and this month witness the arrival of the limited-time Mystic Abyss raid.
Also coming this month is the brutal Inferno difficulty facing the Vykas Legion Raid and the Achates Trial Guardian. These are all solid challenges. Both the Interno raid and the Achates Trial Guardian reward you with titles and achievements rather than the usual rewards of equipment and materials – if you successfully best them, of course. Achates Trial Guardian is a winged lion with some sort of crown made of lightning, so I can’t believe it’s not easy to deal with.
December saw the launch of one of the Lost Ark’s most challenging raids, the Brelshaza Legion Raid. That pits you and seven other players against Brelshaza, the Commander of the Phantom Legion. She will try to seduce you and cause some nasty hallucinations to trick you. There will be two difficulty levels for this raid as it is quite complex. You will have to go through six doors to solve the raid and the item level will increase every two doors. Also coming up in December is the Guardians’ Raid of Caliligos against a large lightning dragon, grr.
Over the next few months, Lost Ark also brings two new advanced character classes: Reaper and Summoner. Reapers are stealth assassins that can stab their opponents in the back and confuse opponents with their own clones. Summoners aren’t the most resilient class to play, but these mages can summon elemental spirits to aid them in battles, which is very useful. Each of these spirits has their own set of skills, and they can use water, lightning, and earth attacks.
Ed compared Lost Ark to gray carpet when it launched earlier this year. “Lost Ark is swimming with characters that exist to give you things to do, but it’s a pile of gray loops,” he said. “Androids distribute their traffic and go into standby mode. Less Westworld, more Carpetland. Gray carpet in the shop. Grayer carpet on the carriage. Gray saddle. You’re not here for adventure, you’re here to shut down your brain and crush things. ”
