Early last year, I watched it again Logitech G923, a set of entry-level sim racing pedals and wheels. It is good, but hardly innovative; Logitech has produced the same flimsy pedal and gear-drive force feedback system for generations, going all the way back to the G25 wheel released in the mid-Augusts. The periphery giant has slowly followed the likes of Thrustmaster and especially Fanatec – two much smaller companies – to penetrate and dominate the market. Logitech doesn’t seem to care about sim racing. They can only again.
Introducing the Logitech G Pro steering wheel. It was the first company to abandon spur gears or helical gears in favor of direct drive systems, as Fanatec was popular with CSL DD – so that’s a big deal. Oddly enough, Logitech has yet to officially announce the existence of the G Pro, but an official setup guide is available now. live and unlisted on YouTubeas well as a product page on the company’s website. Looks like it’s in stock and shipping right now, so that’s the real deal.
The G Pro’s specs seem very competitive, at least on paper. Logitech direct drive solution produces 11 Nm of force. This is significantly higher than the CSL DD’s 5 Nm and 8 Nm that players can get with the $150 Booster, which is essentially a glorified external power supply.
The base includes tach lights and a small OLED screen, while the gearshift paddles are magnetic and incorporate hall-effect sensors. They are accentuated by lower paddles that can be mapped to the clutch. Logitech also offers a new G Pro foot pedal set, equipped with a force sensor on the brake. Onet writing time, pedal doesn’t seem to come with wheels and base, like it does with the company’s entry-level hardware.

The price for all of this is very steep — even steeper than a similar Fanatec setup would be. The G Pro wheel will set you back $1,000. The pedals don’t have a price listed on the brand’s U.S. site, but will apparently go for £300 in the U.K. Compare that to the Fanatec GT DD Pro Kit $700 which includes the pedals, though no force sensors or clutches. The GT DD Pro also offers less than half the available torque of the G Pro, unless you equip the aforementioned Booster.
From a design standpoint, I like the approach Logitech has taken here. I’ve always preferred the brand’s bezel design over the more realistic-looking hardware that Fanatec is all about; This is a video game after all, so having the right controls, buttons, directional pad, and analog stick for the game is helpful in this context.
The G Pro has a metal hub and spokes, with a pair of rotating dials and a bar on the left side. It’s just enough input without being overwhelmed or silly. The rims are connected via a quick release system, but it’s unclear if Logitech will offer replacement rims, as Fanatic has done with its ecosystem – something to keep in mind for those who prefer wheels with Different shapes for different racing disciplines. As usual, customers can choose between Xbox or PlayStation compatible profiles.
I’m excited to dig into the new G Pro series. It is a great time in the sim race when many companies are pushing each other to develop their games. MSRPs may be high, but anyone who knows Logitech knows the company’s products often have attractive discounts. Hopefully that will be the case here as well.
