This is how Lloyd surprised Ashanti during her final performance
Based on Tonight’s reception, Ashanti recently took the stage at the Tacos & Tequila Festival in Kansas City, Kansas. Festivals Official website note that the event occurred on Saturday, June 1.
In footage captured by Instagram user @mjmblessed, Ashanti is seen preparing to sing her and Lloyd’s 2004 single, ‘South coast.’ However, when she brought the mic up to her face, the DJ could be heard saying that he had “something special.”
Looking confused, Ashanti turned around and shared a question.
“Wait, what happened?” she speaks.
Then another voice started singing as Ashanti turned to look behind her.
The singer then jumped in surprise when Lloyd joined her on stage and sang his verse from the song. Before ending the show, Lloyd let the audience know that the event would be Ashanti’s “last concert” for a “long time” due to her upcoming maternity leave.
“I don’t want to miss this show because I’m going to miss you so much on the road,” Lloyd told Ashanti. “Everyone here knows that you changed my life, I love you so much, I’m praying for you and I hope you have a safe delivery, Bonnie.”

Lloyd previously surprised the mother-to-be
This isn’t the first time Lloyd has surprised her fellow singer during her motherhood journey. EQUAL Shade room The pair previously made headlines after they took the stage at the Met Philadelphia on May 19.
At the time, the pair performed their single “Southside” as Lloyd serenaded Ashanti with her baby bump. Additionally, the singer even wrote a sweet message to Ashanti’s unborn child after the performance on social media.
“Dear Baby Haynes, you are surrounded by love, good energy and by people who prayed over your mind before you were born,” he wrote at the time. “One day, I will tell you about the times I had to sing to you while you were still in the womb, about how your mother changed my life and how your father was there for me. when I need a little love and guidance.”
EQUAL Shade room Previously reported, Ashanti revealed that she is expecting her first child with her fiancé Nelly on April 17. The couple has not yet publicly shared whether they are expecting a girl or a boy. However, the singer recently shared how she celebrated her first Mother’s Day.
