LL Cool J Shares His Thoughts on ‘Not Like Us’
Recently, LL Cool J chatted with ‘Ray Daniels Media’ and praised the new generation of artists, especially Kendrick Lamar.
During the interview, the ‘Headsprung’ rapper also revealed that he found K.Dot’s cover of ‘Not Like Us’ very funny.
“I just find it funny that he puts all those signs on homie’s house,” LL said of the red dots placed on Drake’s house, indicating the location of alleged sex offenders. “That shit is crazy. It has nothing to do with shit but it’s the funniest shit in the world. It’s bananas. That kind of thinking, you have to respect that.”
LL continues to recognize today’s generation of artists for their strategic and creative thinking.
“This generation, they think in more layers. They think in more layers. The thinking before was like — in the old days it was like, Okay, you make a song. That’s it. Then it shifted to, you make a song and you make a video. Now it’s shifted to, you make a song, you make a video, you have a brand, you make a book, you have a movie, you have music. You monetize it. You have a platform. The layering of the thinking process is completely different,” LL explains.
This isn’t the first time LL has discussed the rap controversy between Drake and Kendrick.
VIBRATION LL reportedly criticized Drizzy for making a “bad choice” in his fight with K.Dot in July. His comments came during an interview with HOT 97’s TT Torrez. The ‘NCIS’ actor also explained that he believes Kendrick won the fight.
“Kendrick won. I mean, come on. That’s obvious. That’s a no-brainer. And listen, I like Drake. I like his music, he’s a great guy. We don’t know each other but I like his music. I’m happy for him and everything. But, you know, Kendrick… that might have been a bad choice.”
Michael Rubin Discusses Decision to Avoid Playing ‘Not Like Us’
LL Cool J isn’t the only one who has recently shared his thoughts on Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’. Michael Rubin also revealed why he didn’t play the record and all of Lamar’s songs at his All-White party in July.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Michael Rubin hosted his annual All-White party on July 4, the same day Kendrick released the visual for his Drake diss track, ‘Not Like Us.’
Several stars showed up at Rubin’s event, including Drizzy. While on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Michael Rubin addressed rumors that he had stopped playing ‘Not Like Us’ at his party. The Fanatics CEO admitted that he had skipped the song out of respect for his friend Drake.
“Drake’s been a friend of mine for a long time. I wouldn’t invite him… tell him to come over… I just thought it was inappropriate. So I just said, hey, don’t play anyone’s music that’s going to antagonize anyone there.”

Michael held his friend back and made sure the song was turned off before he arrived at the party.
Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Takeover
Kendrick Lamar took over the innanet when he released his fourth diss track aimed at Drake, ‘Not Like Us’ in May.
