Here’s what the boxers had to say Thursday from Minneapolis:

DAVID MORRELL JR.

“100% I went to the knockout. He’s the one asking for it. It will be for my team and for Cuban boxing. You don’t mess with the Cuban people.

“I am so excited for my second chance to fight on SHOWTIME. I hope he’s not too hungry, because I won’t be feeding him anything on Saturday night. I’m more focused and focused than ever thanks to Ronnie Shields and my entire team.

“I appreciate Aidos entering this fight, but now is the time to show what I can do. I will show the rest of the department what is available to them.

“I am predicting a knockout match in the round of 16. I will enter the ring as the best version of myself.

“We are at home now. I’ll go in there and win. Today is to show everyone how excited we are for this game, because the fans should be empowered for this too. We are ready to perform for them.

“I feel bad for Aidos. He didn’t know what was going on and he didn’t know anything about boxing history either. I will teach it on the night of the battle. I’m taking it to school. He has it coming.

“My only focus right now is Aidos. I’m not interested in any other boxers, but I’ll be ready for them. I want to play David Benavidez in the next match. I respect everyone on the team, but I crave the biggest battles. I want to fight everyone. “

AIDOS YERBOSSYNULY

“I am a hunter. I love hunting and it’s part of our culture. It’s hunting season in Kazakhstan right now, but I’m in the USA and I’m here to hunt Morrell on a Saturday night and bring that belt home.

“We respect Cubans and their skills. But in the professional world, there are not as many good fighters as in the amateur world. Whatever he learned, I have those skills too. We both have power in both hands, and I’ll let my fists speak for me.

“I am always learning. I improved a lot during my training in Las Vegas because my coach, Kay Koroma, is a very experienced and well known trainer in the American boxing world. I had a good transition from amateur to pro and I learn something new in every match. I grow as an athlete with every match.

“Nothing about David Morrell Jr bothered me. The danger with boxing is that every boxer will come and injure you. All martial artists are dangerous. There is nothing special about him. I think we’re evenly matched fighters but the difference on Saturday night will be that I’m a smarter fighter and I want that more.

“If he promises something to the fans, he may have to apologize to them after the loss. I definitely came to stop Morrell in this fight. I’ve been training hard and I’m here to get the belt.

“If I get past David Morrell Jr on Saturday, then I want to play David Benavidez next. I’ve fought Canelo Alvarez before and I respect him. To get that fight, I had to prove myself first. That’s why I want to go head-to-head with Morrell and Benavidez.”

JEISON ROSARIO

“I will go in there to win. I don’t care if I end the fight in the first or last round. I’m happy in a way. My strength will be there, but I will be ready for whatever happens.

“Sometimes you need to stumble not once, but twice or more, to learn a lesson. I guarantee I’ve learned my lesson and you’ll see the best version of me on Saturday night.

“This fight is just as important as when I went to Philadelphia and took the title away from Julian Williams. That’s how serious I am in this fight.

“I’m average. I put my health in jeopardy to hit 154 pounds, so I’m fully committed to winning the world title at 160 pounds. “

BRIAN MENDOZA

“I am here and I am ready. I have been training in this camp since April. I’ve actually been locked up for the whole year. You will find that I am anything but a last-minute extra.

“I’m ready for an explosive performance. People will see the work I put in it. This is where preparation meets opportunity. You will see me at my best and I raise my hand.

“This is huge for me. I’m about to add a former unified champion to my resume. This changed my career trajectory. It all starts here and I’m about to show the world what I’m capable of.”

FIODOR CZERKASZYN

“Gallimore is a powerful puncher, but there are so many different skills you need in boxing. It’s not just strength that determines who wins.

“This is my chance. I’m hungry and I’ll show. This is like a vacation for me, because I’m here with no pressure. I’m very happy and I will show it on the ring.

“He’s been through this phase of his career, but I know he’s been training and playing all that time. Maybe he’ll feel some rust in the ring, but we’ll find out on Saturday.

“I am very confident in the training that I have undergone. This is a step forward for me and it’s been something I’ve wanted for a while. I’m ready to perform on the big stage.”

NATHANIEL GALLIMORE

“Round rust won’t be a problem. I started my career in middleweight, so I’m not worried about that either. We’ve been working on a lot of new things and on Saturday it’s coming out.

“He can say what he wants to say, because at the end of the day he has to be in the ring with me. Everyone, look forward to seeing what we bring to the table on Saturday night.

“I will definitely be back. As I said before, it starts with this opponent. The whole world will know that I’m back after they watch this game. “
