The PGA Tour filed an objection to the LIV Golf series, claiming that the treacherous circuit interfered with the contracts the Tour had with its players.
The PGA Tour filed an objection Wednesday in response to LIV’s federal antitrust lawsuit filed in August claiming the PGA Tour was illegally suspended because players chose to play LIV events.
In its response set, the PGA Tour stated that LIV Golf had made “a terrible amount of money to get them to breach their contract with the Tour in an attempt to use LIV Players and golf games for historic sport.” recent brutality of Saudi Arabia and to go beyond the Vision 2030 initiatives of the Saudi Public Investment Fund.”
“Indeed, a key component of LIV’s strategy is to deliberately entice Tour members to breach their Tour agreements and participate in LIV events while seeking to maintain membership. of the Tour and play in Marquee Tour events, such as The Players Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs, so that LIV can go free from the Tour and its platform,” the PGA Tour complaint reads.
“LIV has openly sought to damage the Tour’s business relationship with its members by causing them to breach contractual requirements, even going so far as to pay legal fees to members to make their breach of contract with the Tour becomes more appealing.”
LIV Golf’s plaintiffs currently include Bryson DeChambeau, Matt Jones, Peter Uihlein and LIV Golf itself. Phil Mickelson and three others are the latest to request the removal of plaintiff status from the lawsuit.
LIV Golf released a statement on Thursday in response to the set of objections, which included: “The Tour has made these objectionable statements in a transparent attempt to divert attention from the their anti-competitive practices, which LIV and the players detailed in their 104-page complaint. We have confidence that the courts and justice system will deal with these wrongdoings.”
