List of crates: Louie’s Chicken New York

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Tom Citro, owner of Louie’s Chicken NYC. Citro is passionate about the food business and his restaurateurs. Citro opened in August 2020 and is expected to open more stores within the next few years. Full disclosure, the food is great!

SL: Please share your resume with us.

TC: I grew up in Bedford NY. I attended Fox Lane High School and then college at Alfred University, where I studied business and played basketball.

SL: How did you come to open Louie’s Chicken NY? Where is it located?

TC: Louie’s Chicken NYC is located on 2nd middle avenue 54Order and 55order Streets in Manhattan. Interestingly, I was a member at the gym across the street and as the restaurant was currently in space closed due to Covid, I took it as an opportunity to learn that the area needed a place like this. .

SL: Where did this concept come from?

TC: The concept of home cooked food made with the freshest ingredients with great customer service will be timeless and will keep customers coming back. This is what our food is all about!

SL: Share with our readers some of your favorites on the menu.

TC: Chicken rotisserie, fried chicken, meatballs and Philly Cheesesteak are some of my personal favorites, but, every one is delicious!

SL: The restaurant prides itself on family-style cooking. Can you expand on this?

TC: Almost everything we sell is made on base except for cookies, cakes and some other items. There is a huge difference in the taste and healthiness of freshly prepared versus processed foods. The quality of food we serve at a reasonable price makes us stand out and our customers happy. That’s what it’s all about!

SL: We were quite impressed not only by the menu but also by the cleanliness of the restaurant.

TC: I’m a fanatic about keeping the store clean. My mom always said why would anyone go into a spotless nice restaurant? You can see me every morning cleaning the windows and the whole place. My basement is swept and mopped daily.

SL: Will there be another Louie’s Chicken expansion across Manhattan or across the country?

TC: Yes, we’re looking at opening two to three more locations in Manhattan and then expanding nationally.

SL: Do you see the hospitality industry making a strong comeback?

TC: Itchy people want to go out. The hospitality will come back stronger than ever!

SL: We know you’re very charitable. Share with our readers some of the organizations or acts of kindness you are a part of.

TC: We have been donating to many causes since we opened. Of course, we support the local police and fire department but also support the Sutton Place Park Conservancy, the African Children’s Choir, the Turtle Bay Association, the Sutton Area Community and we will continue support different organizations.

SL: Thank you for talking to me. I look forward to talking with you again.

TC: It is my pleasure and look forward to talking with you again.
