Lincoln 1 – 1 Exeter

Newly promoted Exeter was forced to settle for a point at Lincoln after the hosts took the lead to get a 1-1 draw.

Sam Nombe’s first-half strike was canceled by Tom Hopper early in the second half.

The visitors started strong and were well rewarded for their efforts after 14 minutes. Nombe caught Jevani Brown’s ball and edged past two Lincoln central defenders to calmly finish under newly-debuted goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.

It may have taken two seconds for Nombe to find a way to return the favor during the break, but his cross was too much for Brown.

Lincoln improved a lot after the break and overcame Hopper in the 49th minute, who stooped to head back into the top corner from Hakeeb Adelakun’s cross.

The Grecians regrouped and Josh Coley was denied twice in seconds through a brave tackle from Paudie O’Connor and a save from Rushworth.

Nombe thought he restored the lead afterwards, but saw his messy effort ruled out for offside.

Meanwhile, on the other end, Anthony Scully volleyed from Adelakun’s cross, before narrowly winning the challenge on goal.
