Lil Gator game review: a heartfelt adventure about childhood antics

At some point recently, Crocs got cool. And as someone who grew up in the “Crocs is for dweebs” era, this doesn’t make any sense to me. crocodile? Cool? These silly things must be confused. Thankfully, after a few weeks with Game Lil Gator, I finally understood. Of course, all these people are not talking about the shoe! They are talking about Lil Gator Game, which has the cutest alligator (please don’t lecture me about the difference between alligator and alligator, I love both equally).

The Lil Gator game is exactly what you would expect from the title. It is both a small crocodile game and a small crocodile game. Now get ready for this game guys – it’s a lil game about a lil player making their own lil game. If we were to look at games for title accuracy, this would be an instant winner.

Aside from its extremely precise titles, Lil Gator Game combines honest, whimsical charm with an idyllic island paradise you can roam at a leisurely pace, helping it reach the great height similar to A short trip. It’s a fun open world adventure with exciting exploration, cozy feel, and loads of funny dialogue that made me press the screenshot button.

It all started with the famous crocodile begging their sister to play some games at the park. However, the older sister is busy with her college homework and doesn’t have time for the playground games anymore. However, that doesn’t stop Lil Gator, oh no! Instead, they decided to use their imaginations to create the best game ever, hoping to convince the big sister to join in on the fun. So you start collecting some gear, becoming a hero, and making many friends, hoping that maybe, just maybe, your sister will eventually join.

I have to say, I really admire Lil Gator’s attitude here. Sure, it’s a bit naive, but their willingness to start and go on an entire adventure instead of constantly bugging their siblings is admirable. It was definitely not the path I took as a kid, it was probably a pain for my poor brother. Lil Gator is definitely a great alligator, and their innocent, playful nature immediately made me like them. They are just a kid who wants to play with his little sister and will do almost anything to have fun together. While the plot certainly isn’t too gripping (exploring and meeting NPCs is really the focus here), the lovable hero is sure to bring tears to your eyes as some emotional beats come along. .

Since Lil Gator and their sister are really into a video game called Legend Of Hero (one of many references to a certain Nintendo franchise), the adventure begins with Collect a sword, shield and a soft little hat. They’re not particularly related quests, lasting just over a few minutes as you find the right friend and collect items. Quests are almost always simple throughout, but they make for relaxing mini-quests to complete as you explore. As a bonus, you’ll usually get some cool new toys, a bunch of confetti (the Lil Gator Game currency that you use to buy or craft items), and a new friend to invite back to your village.

These quests are also a great introduction to the essence of youth RPGs. You run around, maybe do a timed race, find an item or slay a few monsters and return to the quest giver to claim your reward. Easy tool. It’s especially perfect for those who want to get their kids involved in a game without any real fights or challenges, as all enemies are just pieces of cardboard made to look like monsters, so no real killing or fighting. The quests are fun, but the real fun in them comes from the dialogue. Lil Gator and many of their friends are sometimes clumsy, always silly kids, which makes for some lines that you can’t really predict. However, Lil Gator Games doesn’t just put you in the middle of jokes. The simple act of exploring the world is incredibly fun thanks to the wide range of tools you have to navigate the environment. Their whimsical, humorous nature drew me in – similar to The Frog Detective – and combining that with a simple yet fun exploration of this stunning island probably makes the aforementioned A Short Hike the better comparison. Before long, I found myself swinging from trees, sliding down mountains, and hunting for more exotic toys and funky characters to play with and talk to.
