Finding your travel essentials can be difficult, whether it’s perfect neck pillow, a pair of shoes or backpack. However, if your List of goods including a normal water bottle, we’ve found a better option that you’ll want to take with you on every trip from now on.
We all know that stay hydrated on the flight is one of the most important things you can do for your body – and to help you fight jet lag. Not to mention, staying hydrated is easier with a good travel bottle. We touched LifeStraw Peak Series Foldable Water Bottleand it’s an absolute must for any tourist or camper.

This water bottle is so versatile that we think every traveler and camper should have. It boasts a built-in filter, so you can refill it and drink from basically anywhere, whether it’s the river or the bathroom sink. And since it’s collapsible, you can always find space to take it with you.

With the bottle of LifeStraw, you can feel comfortable drinking from the lake if you are using it multi-day backpacking tripor even from an airport sink if you’re in another country and don’t know if you should trust the faucet. We tested Water filter The filtering capacity of the bottle itself and is very impressive. While we don’t put filtered water under a microscope to look for parasites, the dirty water we put in the bottle will be crystal clear. Up to anyone with taste sensitivity: The water that comes out of the bottle has a bit of a taste left over from the dirt, but it’s not so strong that we wouldn’t drink the water.
In addition to the filter’s ability to filter, we absolutely love its collapsible design. It folds up to the size of an average hand, which means you can easily store it in any travel backpack and use it on the go. The collapsible construction also means you can squeeze water out of the bottle, allowing you to refill other water bottles with clean water from the LifeStraw filter.
In addition to its amazing features, LifeStraw collapsible bottle is also super durable. It survived our drop tests without a single scratch and the material on the bottle is very thick and tough. The only part of the bottle that we can see broken is the cap. That being said, it would take quite a while to crack the hard plastic.
This bottle’s collapsibility gives it the flexibility we love so much, but the bottle is essentially unstructured, so its size and shape is as liquid as the water inside. That means it can’t stay firmly on your desk throughout the workday and is a bit harder to hold than a traditional plastic or metal water bottle.
Because the bottle doesn’t have any kind of construction, we wish it had a larger circle on the cap for easier portability. It has two small loops on the lid, but only one of them is big enough to get your fingers through and the other is for the carabiner so you can clip it to your backpack.
Another factor to consider with this bottle is its flow rate. It actually has a pretty high flow rate compared to other water filters, but you won’t be able to drink as fast as a traditional water pitcher. Squeezing the bottle helps you drink faster, and during our testing, flow rate wasn’t a big deal. But if you are someone who prioritizes the ability to quickly filter water, you can consider a pitcher without a filter.
Finally, cleaning and maintaining the water bottle filter can be a bit difficult. While it’s not dishwasher safe, cleaning the pitcher is actually very easy with a dishwasher brush. But if you don’t use the filter for more than a month, LifeStraw recommend storing it in a saline solution. This keeps the filter at peak performance, but requires some extra work. And if the bottle’s flow rate starts to slow, you’ll probably have to backwash it, although a syringe is included for this purpose. Overall, the LifeStraw Foldable Bottle requires extra care to achieve peak performance.
The other bottles we tested feature double-walled insulation for the most part, which means they can keep your beverage – be it water, coffee, tea or anything else – piping hot or ice cold. The LifeStraw collapsible bottle can’t do that, but we think its collapsible structure and filtering capabilities make it better for travelers who want to stay hydrated than carrying hot drinks. If you’re looking for a bottle of water to sit at your desk all day, check out one of our favorites like Yeti Rambler or Stein who is healthy. But if you’re traveling internationally or camping and want clean water, Water filter is your best bet.
There are other collapsible bottle and rigid bottle with filter, but we really think the combination of a collapsible bottle with a filter makes for an ideal travel bottle. There aren’t many bottles that have both of these features like the LifeStraw, but Katadyn BeFree similar and a popular choice with backpackers. Chances are you will come across a lot of other basic water filters like Sawyer Squeeze, comes with a carrying bag and an adapter to screw into most plastic bottles you can buy. We used the Sawyer Squeeze, and while it makes filtering the water easy, the bag and filter themselves aren’t very durable. If you want a filter that can be screwed into single-use plastic bottles, Katadyn BeFree or Straw LifeStraw Peak Series are all good options.
