LG announces its first curved OLED display with 240Hz refresh rate at IFA

LG introduced its upcoming high-end monitor at this year’s IFA Berlin, and one of the models it announced is a 45-inch curved monitor specifically designed to deliver a more immersive gaming experience. The company says the model (45GR95QE) is its first curved monitor under the UltraGear gaming monitor brand and also its first OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate. It has a 21:9 aspect ratio for ultra-wide viewing, has a WQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, and supports HDR10 and HDMI 2.1.

The display’s bezel-less design and aspect ratio combined with its 800R curvature is said to make gamers feel like they’re really in the game they’re playing. LG even gives the display an anti-glare and low-reflective coating to lessen the sensation of watching games on the screen. If all of this sounds familiar, that’s because Corsair also just launched a 45-inch 1440p gaming monitor called Xeneon Flex which it co-developed with LG. However, unlike this UltraGear model, the model has a bendable design that can be bent from straight up to 800R.

In addition to the upcoming 45-inch curved display, LG also showcased the UltraFine Display Ergo AI at IFA. The 31.5-inch screen has a built-in camera that monitors the user’s eye level, then automatically adjusts the height and tilt of the screen so that the user is not in one position for a long time. Unfortunately, LG hasn’t revealed the price and availability of the display, so those interested will just have to wait for more information.
