Lexus Design Award 2023 India: winners and outstanding design



Lexus has committed to paying up to Rs 5 lakh to the winners in the concept category to develop and realize the market.

The Lexus Design Award India (LDAI), now in its sixth edition, is back in its original physical format after being store almost for two years due to the pandemic. The 2023 LDAI edition had over 1,000 entries and prizes were awarded in eight different categories, along with a special mention. LDAI is the Indian version of the international Lexus Design Awards, established in 2013. The competition also connects finalists with globally recognized designers, who act as mentors and guide participants through the design process.

Speaking to Autocar India about designs or products at the Lexus Design Awards that have found practical application in real life, Naveen Soni, President of Lexus India, pointed out that Paper Boat, the beverage brand well known, winner of the 2018 Lexus Design Award He said, “There are many different aspects of design such as materials, packaging and also usefulness. Among the winners, 19-year-old Mahek Parvez won the Eco-Innovation category in the Establishment category. Her submission ‘Cooling Chamber Harvesting from the Sun’ can be used to extend the shelf life of perishable agricultural products, thus ensuring food security and farmers’ well-being. The winner of the Student category was Chandru with his entry ‘Cookmate’, a versatile cooking appliance that can be used as a frying pan, sauce pan or even a hot pot – all in one package – and even comes with with its own heat sensing system. This year, Lexus has also committed to paying up to Rs 5 lakh to each concept winner to support the development and realization of their projects in the market.
