Leonard Ellerbe picks Devin Haney to beat George Kambosos Jr

Via Dan Ambrose: Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is picking Devin Haney to beat George Kambosos Jr. due to his technical skill in their match on June 4.

While Ellerbe believes WBC lightweight champion Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) can beat IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO Kambosos champion (20-0, 10 KOs), he’s not sure if whether the referee gave it to him or not.

Haney, 23, is a boxer from the US and will fight his hometown Kambosos at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

With Kambosos being Australian and the fight taking place in Australia, it’s understandable why Ellerbe was skeptical of Devin’s chances of victory.

Had Haney not been robbed in this fight, it would have been an eye-opener for him to teach him to stop fighting in another boxer’s hometown.

It’s understandable if you’re a boxer needed to go up against a big superstar who gives you options but moves to their backyard.

In Haney’s case, he doesn’t need to do this as he is the undefeated WBC champion, and he can go on to defend his belt in Las Vegas.

“He had all the tools to succeed and be the winner of that fight in the ring,” Ellerbe said of Haney. “The question will be, will they give him onet? That’s what it’s going to be,” Ellerbe said.

If Haney is robbed, it will be seen by a lot of boxing fans and that will get the Kambosos’ attention.

“Devin has loads of skills, and again, he can fight Kambosos,” Ellerbe said.

“I commend them for that. They are chasing greatness and he [Devin Haney] being a top of their mind when it comes to hardware,” Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told Fighthype about Devin Haney’s willingness to go to Australia to fight George Kambosos in two battles.

“Why not?” Ellerbe said when asked if a battle between Haney and Gervonta Davis could be made if Devin defeated Kambosos. “It all has to make sense.

“Just because you have all the belts, it doesn’t mean that you are a character that attracts a lot of time to do a big event with big money. We see that now. There’s a reason why they fight in Australia. Will it be a fight? [Kambosos vs. Haney be big in the United States? Among the die-hard boxing fans.

“Is that a pay-per-view fight? Do you see what I’m saying? You see the difference?” said Ellerbe, shrugging his shoulders as if Kambosos vs. Haney wouldn’t be a PPV-worthy fight in the U.S.

“Tank has been the biggest attraction without all that,” continued Ellerbe. “To answer your question, ‘Do I think he [Haney] beat the Kambosos? ‘ I agree,‘ said Ellerbe.
