Leonard Ellerbe criticizes Bob Arum for wanting Lomachenko Vs. Haney with the winner fighting Stevenson
Via Sam Volz: Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told Top Rated promoter Bob Arum when he said this week that he wants Devin Haney to defend his undisputed lightweight championship ahead of Vasyl Lomachenko his mandatory #1 WBC next with the winner to face former double world champion Shakur Stevenson.
Arum doesn’t expect Mayweather Promotions to contact him out of the blue to try and put Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis into the equation for the undisputed championship. Tank is supposed to fight Ryan Garcia next, and who knows when that fight will finally be made?
Arum wants to make Shakur Stevenson the next superstar at lightweight. If Mayweather Promotions is interested in getting their golden goose, Tank Davis, into the mix, they can always call Arum. I didn’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
Tank is too busy with the likes of Isaac Cruz, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Leo Santa Cruz to want to contest the undisputed championship.
Ellerbe doesn’t need to be bitter right now as there’s a very high chance Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) will vacate her four lightweight titles to avoid Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) moving to the safe zone all at 140, where he won’t have to worry about being attended by the talented former three-division world champion.
If/when Haney vacates the 135 lb belt, Lomachenko will chase the WBC, possibly against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, while the other belts are contested by Shakur Stevenson, Gustavo Lemos and Michel Rivera.
Ellerbe points out that Arum runs everything, and he won’t do a fight inside the house unless it’s“Win-win” situation” for him.
Ellerbe’s jealousy is hard to ignore, as he can feel like someone is on the outside looking in, knowing that his top boxer ability is Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis with Mayweather Promoted has would NEVER have a chance to fight for the undisputed championship due to the way they carefully maneuvered the Baltimore natives.
Lomachenko and Haney have wanted to fight Tank Davis for so long with no luck, and now it’s gotten to the point where they rarely mention him because it’s not going to happen.
This was a play and Arum was very clear. It’s amazing how some fans and media have run with any other context. Bob calls all the photos in the Top Rated. Bob wouldn’t do bad things outside of his home unless he was in a win-win situation. ♂️ https://t.co/ngktc1U7KZ

If Mayweather Promotions had the Davis Tank fight quality opponents, they would move on to setting up a fight with the next Haney, Lomachen, or Shakur instead of Instagram/Youtube fighter Ryan Garcia.
