Lenovo’s Yogi Book 9i makes a case for a dual-screen laptop and it’s not bad
Lenovo is taking the dual-screen concept to the next level with the Yoga Book 9i, one of the first laptops to feature two full-size OLED touchscreens.
Tech companies have tried to create dual-screen laptops before. Sadly, they’re not going anywhere, like New Microsoft Surfaceor downsized. However, this new Lenovo laptop is doing things a little differently.
At least, Lenovo calls it a laptop. It’s more like a tablet with the hinge acting as a divider. The screen itself isn’t curved so you don’t have to worry about that annoying crease in the middle. Look at the announcement picture (opens in a new tab), the Yoga Book 9i is quite versatile as both screens can be used for a single image or to work on two separate apps at the same time. You can visualize a presentation while “watching the conversation” [and] the next slide from the second screen.”
Although there is no keyboard attached directly, the Yoga Book 9i will come with a “removable Bluetooth keyboard”. Lenovo also says that it supports Smart Pens, but it is unknown if the stylus will be part of the launch package.
what to expect
Coming down to the specs, the Yoga Book 9i’s OLED display measures 13.3 inches across, each outputting a 2.8K (2880×1800 pixels) resolution image at 60Hz. Both feature “100% DCI-P3 and Dolby Vision HDR color accuracy” that will deliver vivid, detailed images.
As for audio, the dual-screen laptop comes with “Dolby Atmos spatial sound” as well as a Bowers & Wilkins speaker system for an immersive experience.
Powering everything is a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-U15 CPU and Iris Xe GPU, so don’t expect the 9i to have great performance for gaming. It’s more for work and school. You’re looking at about 10 hours of using both screens on low brightness settings, so you can leave the charger at home. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6E support, up to 1 TB of storage, and 16G LPDDR5X RAM.
Be prepared to pay a hefty price for the Yoga Book 9i. It launches in June 2023 in Tidal Teal color with a starting price of $2,099.99 in the US.
Eye-catching laptop
Another version of Lenovo’s CES that caught our attention is the Smart Paper, a 10.3-inch E-ink tablet that’s positioned as a digital laptop. According to Lenovo, you use the Smart Pen to write notes or create illustrations with precision. Users can also “choose from 9 different pen settings…plus 74 notepad templates.” Plus, the Pen doesn’t need charging, so you don’t have to worry about the stylus dying.
Looks like Lenovo is setting up Smart Paper to compete with Kindle Recorder, it’s a great eBook reader but has pretty average writing features. Smart Paper launches in late 2023 with prices starting at $399.99.
