Lead Designer ‘Limbo’ Next Project Is Cosmic Adventure ‘Cocoon’


Jeppe Carlsen’s new game has a completely different vibe from his previous versions. As the main gameplay designer of Limbo and internalCarlsen is known for building spooky clones with sick imagery, but his latest original project features a bug-like explorer in a mysterious, neon-speckled planetary system.

The protagonist looks like a personified firefly as it picks up orbs and uses them to traverse the environment, jump between worlds, and discover ancient alien technology.

“Each world exists in a sphere that you can carry on your back” The cocoon‘S description read. “Wrap your head around the core mechanics of jumping between worlds – and combine, manipulate and rearrange them to solve intricate puzzles.”

However, not all are light and airy – The cocoon there is a huge, overwhelming world and many shadow areas, like Limbo and internal.

The cocoon is due to the success of Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Game Pass, Steam and Switch in the first half of 2023. It is published by Annapurna Interactive and is in development at Carlsen’s studio, Geometric Interactive.
