Winter storm Elliott is expected to bring gusts, arctic cold and a risk of rapid freezing to the Mid-Atlantic over the weekend. In preparation, the Maryland Jockey Club postponed the December 26 Christmastide Stakes Day program.

Mike Rogers, Acting President of the Association said: “Due to expected weather conditions to continue throughout the weekend, we have decided to cancel Monday’s show early in order to accommodate our fans as well as fans. Riders and riders will participate in this special race day. Maryland Horse Racing Club.

The entire 11-race schedule will move to Friday, December 30 with a posting time of 11:25 a.m. Head-to-head racing is scheduled to resume on Thursday, December 29 with the 48-day fall meeting final set for Saturday, December 31.

With six bets worth $100,000, the Christmastide program includes, Heft S. for 2-year-olds and Gin Talking S. for 2-year-olds at seven pounds, each; 6 1/2-furlong Willa On the Move S. and 1 1/8 Carousel S. for mares and older mares; and six furlongs Dave’s Friend S. and Robert T. Manfuso S. go 1/16 for children 3 years and older.
